Blockage in Gutter and rain pipe

During the life of your outside fitted pipework, it will definitely suffer from a blockage, of some description, whether it is large or small. Now you can try and deal with this yourself or you can pass it over to a professional plumbing service like Battersea Plumbers who deal with all kinds plumbing problems.

Lets take the guttering as an example then, this system of pipework is fitted outside to allow rainwater to find its way safely down into the drains. Unfortunately they will sometimes collect unwanted dust and debris like moss, which forms a silty like mass that just does not allow anything to pass, even water. A Battersea Plumber is trained to unblock guttering and it’s associated pipework. This block can, single handed create other problems, like where can the water go? You got it, it will overflow anywhere it can and it is really inconvenient and messy. So you need to clear the block. This is best done with a 4-5ft pole fitted with a semi circular piece on one end and of course a ladder. Push the pole as far down the trough as you can and dig the end in, pulling the mess towards you and deposit in a bucket and ditch. You must take care with the ladder and never carry this task out on your own if possible. Do not over reach when or lean the ladder on the pipework as it could collapse and damage you and the pipe. The attached rainwater pipe can become blocked as well, which is difficult. A drainage spring up and down the pipework may do it. However if the pipe is plastic it is a better idea to dismantle it all and sort each section. It also means you can get off the ladder. This is an easier way of inspecting and clearing the whole length. This blockage is nearly always at the bottom of this pipe, causing the water to leak from the joints, this is pretty much caused by a blocked gully and can be simply hand cleared.
